The Heart is the Secret Dwelling Place of Divine Knowledge

‘Abdu’l-Bahá says, “The world of minds corresponds with the world of hearts.”

What do we know in our heart, how do we know it, and what do we ponder there? It doesn’t involve language or words. Our soul needs assistance to have a relationship with the Divine. The grace of Holy Spirit is the key to inner knowledge and understanding, the river of knowing that flows from the Divine to the human heart. When we think deeply, reflect, and meditate in our heart on the Divine Revelation, we reach the inner sanctum where God’s mysteries dwell. Truth becomes understanding in our hearts, which can become clear and polished through prayer.

Our spirit encompasses our body and knows its sensations and powers. The knowledge we gain through our senses is our outer self; heart knowledge is our where our authentic self exists.

The Holy Spirit grants us a higher reality, and we perceive our surroundings with new eyes, ears, hearts and minds. Being our authentic selves is what Bahá’u’lláh called, “dwelling in the plane of oneness.” Though we can’t fully understand God, we can know His names, His attributes, and we can observe the traces of God all around us when we are mindful.

In contrast, ignorance is imperfection and weakness. Ignorant people who have no connection to the God make untrue claims and impose on others what they themselves need to learn. These veiled ones don't comprehend spirituality, choose a materialistic lifestyle. The oneness of humanity escapes them, and disunity oozes in. The veils need to be lifted from the eye that lives deep in their hearts.

Only then will God send the grace to perceive the most subtle realities of His dominion, to understand the mysteries of His kingdom and even attempt to comprehend the signs of His transcendent Essence in this mortal world. The oneness becomes the new reality, there is no distinction between any of us. This is perfect vision, and it exudes from the heart.
